About

Rather than writing the usual CV style about section, I thought I should try something a little different. A couple of years ago I decided to take the plunge and set-up my own business. The natural route seemed to be freelance contracting type roles, however I decided that what I really wanted to do was develop my own consultancy business, with the aim of offering a range of flexible services where I could work with my clients to help them resolve problems and develop and implement genuine improvements.

During the course of my career (just over thirty years now), where I have either been providing or receiving consultancy services, I have seen consultants deliver real benefits for their clients and also, unfortunately, seen and experienced where they have not.

As a client, I always looked for the consultants who wanted to work with us to understand our business, the challenges we faced and to develop a solution with us, rather than those who just wanted to apply their standard solution without doing any kind of analysis to ensure that it was the right solution.

So, with that in mind, my aim is to ensure that the services that I deliver do provide my clients with real benefits, by:

  • Taking the time to ensure that I understand my client’s business, their objectives and the problems that they face

  • Working with my clients to develop practical and effective solutions

  • Providing flexible services that fit with the clients’ ways of working, timescales, culture and priorities

  • Being honest and using plain, jargon free language (so no picking low hanging fruit, blue sky thinking and saluting things from a helicopter view)

I do not claim to have all the answers, but I will always work with you to find them, and whilst I do not have the resources of larger firms, I also do not have any of their overheads and branded methods, so have the flexibility to develop the right solution.

Now for the CV bit, here is a summary of my skills and areas of expertise:

I have 30 years of project management, business analysis and consulting experience. I have a solid track record of delivering effective and innovative solutions for complex business problems across the private, public and not for profit sectors, encompassing a wide range of industries, focusing on developing solutions that invest in future sustainable business.

My extensive experience includes developing and implementing finance and finance related solutions across a wide range of industries, developing PPM capability for public and private sector organisations and working with a global education foundation to transform their student assessments from paper to a fully digital solution.

My core competences include thorough problem-solving skills, with a flexible organisation and planning style, combined with a persistent and responsible approach to work. I have a passion for customer care and quality, delivered with excellent communication skills, quickly building rapport with stakeholders, clients and colleagues alike.
